The taxi station is on the 1866 Square in Chania, and there are usually cars waiting there. But you can also flag them down along the road if you can’t find the station. Prebooking costs two euro in booking fee.
The drivers are obliged to use the taxameter, with different tariffs for inner and outer city areas. Past midnight, the tariffs doubles. Agree to a price inclusive of tips, in advance, if you are going longer distances.
A taxi trip of 10 kilometres costs about 7 euro. Large pieces of luggage (anything bigger than your average handbag, really) are charged extra. Tipping is not very common, just round off the amount upwards.
